The development of creative business support for local artists has been an exciting new phase in arts development work for Durham City Arts. This new area of work is intended to help artists develop a good understanding of how careers evolve and reputations are established. The creative business support available from Durham City Arts is available to Durham artists, both as individuals and within groups.

Creative business support offers support to artists to enable them to develop their business skills within a creative arena and the skills they need to further develop themselves as artists.
Creative business support can offer job-shadowing, mentoring and training opportunities.

Durham Creative Business Support worker Helen Brewster
has been funded through the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) as part of a cross-cultural initiative which recognised the role and importance of creative industries in the area.
