Durham Visual Arts was established in September 2003 with the aim of providing a forum so local artists could share information and ideas and provide an opportunity to network. The group provides us with an opportunity to work together towards shared goals, get creative business advice and exchange information. The group welcomes new members and further information is lower down this page.
- We have developed into a vibrant group of artists that hold monthly informal meetings that we find invaluable as an opportunity for artists to work together. We are interested in developing joint exhibitions, researching local venues and sharing information. We welcome the meetings as an opportunity to meet and break the isolation some of us experience.
'It's an opportunity to share ideas about a passion'
'I enjoy these sorts of get-togethers, it helps me feel less isolated'
'Durham Visual Arts gives me the opportunity to meet people who combined have a huge experience of making art'
- Durham City Arts currently facilitates and supports our meetings through their creative business support worker. With their support Durham Visual Arts have developed this, their own website.
- Artists in Durham can access the creative business support whether or not they attend the Forum meetings.
